ABOUT US
We are the Wichita Chapter of The Modern Quilt Guild (MQG).

The mission of The Modern Quilt Guild is to support and encourage the growth and development of modern quilting through art, education, and community. The MQG developed out of a thriving online community of modern quilters and their desire to meet in person. The founding guild was formed in Los Angeles in October 2009. Today, The Modern Quilt Guild has over 200 guilds worldwide and more than 14,000 members.

The Wichita Modern Quilt Guild became an "official" chapter of the MQG in 2014. We meet on the first Saturday of every month to share our love of modern quilting, learn from each other, and encourage one another as we grow our skills and confidence.
MONTHLY MEETINGS
We're an easy-going group with members of all skill levels.
Whether you've been quilting for 20 years or are still working up the courage to start your first quilt, you are welcome here! We're an easy-going group with members of all skill levels. Monthly Guild Meetings are held on the FIRST Saturday of each month. Our meeting format typically includes updates, Show-and-Share, and an activity or educational programming. Meetings are attended by 15-20 members and last between 1.5 - 2 hours.

MIDWEEK MEET-UPS
For those who just want to hang out, eat, and talk about modern quilting.
In January, March, May, July, September, and November members (and guests) get together to hang out, eat, and talk about modern quilting. There's no program and no agenda. Just good food, great friends, and plenty of talk about quilting.
Updates about dates/times and meet-up locations are shared via Facebook.
*Midweek meet-ups are currently on hold. When they resume, we will update this space.
CHARITY PROJECTS
Giving back to the community where we live and the causes that we love.
Our members are passionate about giving back to the community and support a variety of causes. Each year, the Wichita Modern Quilt Guild picks 1-2 local organizations to support as a group. In the past, members have donated quilted hugs to nursing, pillowcases to foster children, and quilts to a number of different organizations.
We also participate in The Modern Quilt Guild's annual Charity Quilt Challenge. Our last submission, Tactile Text, featured a grayscale color palette and original pattern by guild members. "Braille is reading through touch" was appliqued onto the quilt top and quilted into the quilt in Braille. The quilt hung at Quilt Con 2020 and was donated to Envision.
SEW-CIALS & MINI RETREATS
Enough talking - let's quilt!
Each year, we do our very best to organize a mini-retreat and/or Guild Sew Days at different venues, like quilt shops and sewing centers. Updates about sew-cials and mini retreats are posted on our Facebook page. ​
